Porcelain tile cleaning test sample at House of Sher, Glasgow

By Danny Murray ·

House of Sher in Glasgow was having difficulty achieving a satisfactory result on its porcelain tiled floor. Advice had previously been given about a particular machine and chemical combination, but the proposed approach was not producing the standard the customer wanted.

Rather than making promises about the full floor, we assessed the surface and completed a controlled porcelain tile cleaning test sample. The photograph below shows the cleaned test section clearly against the surrounding tiles.

Why the porcelain floor was difficult to clean

Porcelain is durable, but textured tiles can hold soil within their surface profile. The machine, agitation, cleaning chemistry, dwell time and soil-removal process must work together. A product or machine that is suitable for one floor may be ineffective—or unsuitable—on another.

Our assessment showed that the previously suggested combination was not the right approach for the finish and result required. Correcting the method produced a clear visual improvement within the agreed test area.

Why we complete a tile-cleaning test sample

A test sample replaces guesswork with evidence. It allows the customer to see the likely result before committing to a full professional hard-floor cleaning service. It also lets us confirm how the tile and existing finish respond before deciding on equipment, chemistry and process.

We back up our recommendations by demonstrating what can realistically be achieved. If the test does not justify further work, the customer has that information before making a larger decision.

Commercial tile cleaning in Glasgow

Busy restaurants, hospitality venues, shops and other commercial premises can develop heavy soil that ordinary mopping no longer removes. Our tile cleaning service in Glasgow begins with an assessment of the floor, its condition, previous treatments and the result the customer needs.

Where appropriate, we can complete a demonstration area before quoting for the full project. This is particularly useful for larger porcelain, ceramic, grout and textured-tile floors where the customer needs confidence in the proposed result.

Seek professional advice before buying machinery or chemicals

Before investing in equipment or applying a stronger chemical, identify the tile, the type of contamination and how the loosened soil will be removed. Professional advice supported by a test sample can prevent wasted spending, disappointing results and avoidable risk to the floor.
