Why the source of the odour matters
Pet contamination may be limited to the carpet face or may have reached the backing, underlay, subfloor or upholstery filling. Cleaning the visible surface cannot always resolve contamination beneath it, so the likely depth and extent are discussed before treatment.
UV inspection can help locate some affected areas, but it is only one part of the assessment. Fibre, dyes, backing, previous products and the material underneath also influence what can be treated safely.
How treatment is planned
The process is adapted to the item and contamination found. It can include dry hair removal, targeted treatment, controlled dwell time, agitation and suitable rinsing or extraction. We explain realistic limitations where replacement of underlay or another remedial step may be more appropriate than repeated surface cleaning.
Before the appointment
Photographs of the affected room or item help with the initial quotation. Please describe the type of pet, how long the issue has been present and any products already applied. Access, delicate surroundings and ventilation are checked before the working plan is finalised.
